Ann at Work

Being a wedding photographer is a fantastic job; being part of a couples special day still gives me the same feeling of excitement as it did when I shot my first wedding! Days are generally long, but so much fun!!

In the build-up to your big day, I really like to get to know my couples. Engagement shoots really help with this as it gives us a chance to spend a couple of hours together. We can get to know each other and chat about your special day, as well as getting some fabulous images of you both.

When your big day arrives,  I like to get there early. This gives me a chance to say hello, meet bridesmaids, brides Mum and anyone else before getting my camera out.

I like to work with natural light as much as possible, as I feel this is far more flattering for you and makes photographs look so much more natural.  However, I also have flash ready when required.

I then like to get on with capturing those special details like shoes, flowers, jewellery and your dress, anything that adds to the story of your day!

It’s then time to get some shots of the getting ready stages, make up, hair, everyone having fun and the bride getting her dress on. This is one of my favourite parts of the day, it’s always full of fun and laughter.  The shots are always natural and show so much emotion! Once in your dress, it’s good to get some shots of the bride all dressed up and some shots of the bridesmaids.

Once this is done it’s off to see the Groom and his entourage! I’ll get some shots of the guys and then capture guests arriving at the venue or church, again telling the full story of the day.

Capturing the ceremony is also another great time for me. I am very discreet and capture all of those special moments, grooms first look at his bride as she walks down the aisle, exchange of rings, first kiss…..

After the ceremony this is always a time of great joy and happiness as everyone is all about congratulating the bride and groom, which again leads to such natural shots, full of smiles. Formal group shots are then taken. It's your choice of how many groups are taken, whether it is just a few or the whole shebang, it's up to you!

After you’ve had time with your guests I like to take you away from the crowds for a little while to capture some fantastic bride and groom portraits of yourselves as husband and wife. This is a nice time for you to have some fun together and relax (it also gives you a little break!). Once we’ve finished our little session it’s usually time for the wedding breakfast.
